This release contains a preview version of the following features (that are also described in our Roadmap document: ASP.NET AJAX Roadmap):

Client-side template rendering
Declarative instantiation of behaviors and controls
DataView control
Markup extensions
Bindings

The goal of this release is to give some visibility into our design process, allow testing of the technology very early in the product cycle and get feedback on the implementation.
